HEY KYOTO

I'm Wearing: ASOS denim jacket with customised pockets, Dr Denim jeans WEGO beanie, DIY fur bag and Nikes

Day trip to Kyoto!

Day 4: After waking up far too early to catch a 2 1/2 hour train to Kyoto we arrived at our first destination of the day…Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine. The Shrine is famous for it’s thousands of vermilion torii gates that create a path up a mountain. After exploring as much as our bodies could handle we got back onto a train and headed to Nijo Castle! It’s at this moment that I should mention the weather was very cold and rainy. The castle grounds are huge and their filled with pretty gardens and far too many puddles. It was so cold and miserable so we didn’t stay for long. After we desperately ate Mcdonald’s for lunch we headed to Kiyomizu-dera Temple! This is my favourite place in Kyoto, the main street leading up to Kiyomizu-dera is flooded with tourists and locals shopping in all the little shops. Then once you get to the temple and look back at the street you get a fabulous view of Kyoto!

To finish the day we walked through Kyoto to the Ninja restaurant which is basically a very cheap buffet and you eat as much as you can for 90 minutes. It goes without saying I had a real good time eating too much food. After self diagnosing myself with a food coma we headed back to Shinjuku.

HEY TOKYO - PART ONE

I'm Wearing: White Pepper dress, ASOS denim jacket with customised pockets, DIY fur bag and Converse

Next up on my travels was Tokyo!

Day 3 in Tokyo was bright and sunny which was a nice change since Osaka was wet n windy. To start our week in Tokyo we headed to Tokyo Dome (baseball stadium/mini theme park/shopping centre). We did what every tourist does which is grab a Starbucks (absolute eye roll I know) and watched the roller coaster do its thang. Not only does the roller coaster have an almost vertical drop but it goes through the shopping centre. This was my second visit to Tokyo Dome and I still wasn’t feeling that massive almost vertical drop so I did what every lil baby does and back out.

The weather was still fabulous by mid day so we decided to check out Asakusa Sensoji Temple which is an ancient Buddhist temple and is also the oldest temple in Tokyo. After exploring the temple and the markets I ordered a big ol bowl of fried rice for lunch. It was 'just okay' if you were wondering.

We finished the night in Shibuya, I ate another big bowl of food but this time it was dreamy carbonara pasta. (very traditional I know)
After roaming the streets of Shibuya we finished the night walking across the biggest crossing in the world dreaming of our beds in our cupboard apartment.

HEY OSAKA

Part one of my Japan travel Diaries:

First stop, Osaka!

After waking up far too early to catch our flight to Osaka we landed around 7pm and headed to our fabulous Airbnb apartment in the heart of Shinsaibashi. Before arriving I was having pretty sketchy thoughts about using Airbnb but it was 10 times better than staying at a hotel. Although the apartments in Japan really are the smallest I have ever experienced. Our apartment overlooked a shrine next door with beautiful Cherry Blossom trees that made up for the apartments teeny tiny size.

Day 1 in Osaka was Universal studios, I had already experienced the horrendous lines at Universal once before and this visit wasn’t any better.  My family and I are complete Harry Potter fans so we really only visited the park for Harry Potter World so we dedicated our day to that. We ended up spending 3 hours in a line to go on the forbidden journey ride and it was the most incredible ride I have been on to date.

After we had completely Harry Pottered our selves out we left Universal disappointed as we had only been on one ride as the lines were just insane. To pick up our spirits we strolled around Shinsaibashi to find a place to eat to prep ourselves for the 600m long shopping arcade. I picked up a few things and we finished the night admiring Dotonbori’s famous neon signs that magically reflect onto the canals.

Day 2 in Osaka I decided to enjoy the sights and didn’t use my phone or camera however we explored Shinsaibashi even more and visited a shrine before heading off to Tokyo!
