ALEX IN WANDERLUST TURNS 5!

I'm Wearing: House Of Cards skirt and Mesh tee from Japan

Hey hey back in October 2010 I started blogging in this space and 5 years have somehow flown by and I'm still here having the best time ever!

When I first started this blog it was actually called ‘Alexandria’s room’ I was inspired by my older sister who also had a blog at the time called ‘Kaela’s room’ and me being the 14 year old little sister I copied her completely. Some of the posts from that time still remain but quite a lot have been hidden just because they are too embarrassing to be left up.

After about a year of being Alexandria’s room it finally clicked in my brain to change the name because lets be honest Alexandria’s room didn’t have a good ring to it and it was unoriginal in the first place. This is how Alex In Wanderlust started. Tuula’s blog was one of the first blogs I ever followed and genuinely enjoyed I remember she used to have this Alice Mccall dress with a love heart cut out on the back and I was obsessed with it. So whilst reading Tuula one day I googeld the word ‘Wanderlust’ to find out what it meant and thats how that word even came into my vocabulary at that time. So after having the infamous Alice in Wonderland in my DVD cupboard and this new fabulous word and a name that started with A. I created Alex In Wanderlust.

Blogging really is my favourite thing to do in my spare time and I'm so excited for the next five years!

HEY TANGALOOMA

I'm Wearing: Urban Outfitters overalls, Monki tee, Bec and Bridge bag and Kiss The Sky dress

You know when you’ve just been on holiday and you just got home and you’re unpacking your dirty washing and feeling super sad about being home but then kind of happy as well? These are my feels right about now.

I just got back from a few days at Tangalooma! I spent my time adventuring the island, sunset watching, having a few bevvies, back up dancing at karaoke, snorkelling, kayaking, dugong spotting, relaxing on the beach, applying way too much sunscreen, playing trivia, dolphin/whale watching, eating too much food, 4X4 driving, playing tennis and wishing I didn’t have to go home.

I’ll see you again soon Tangalooma!

P.s Shout out my gal pal Bridget who introduced me to this fab place!

UNTITLED

I'm Wearing: Jacket from Japan, Adidas Originals, Topshop tee, Lee denim skirt and DIY bag

It's slowly starting to get way too hot to wear jackets here in Australia and I'm having struggles accepting this might be one of the last times this year.  But on a fabulous note I'm going away for a week on Wednesday to snorkel and play on the beach then a music festival to finish it off! I'll show you guys what I got up to next week!

DIY: NEON CLOUD

Hey boys n gals! Hope you're all doing fabulous this week! I have waited over a month for this fabulous wire to come in the mail so I could make this sweet DIY and show you guys! Steps below if you want to make your own.

YOU WILL NEED:
  • EL wire (I got mine from Ebay)
  • Clear fishing line
  • Wire to make your frame
  • Scissors and wire cutters
  • a fab idea

HOW TO:
  1. Start by deciding what you want your neon sign to be whether that's a quote or image but make sure it can flow along the wire in one go as there is no cutting allowed.
  2. Start bending your wire into your desired shape. I drew a cloud onto a sketch pad and used that as a rough guide.
  3. Once you've got your wire shape done start placing the EL wire along your shape and use pegs to hold it down whilst you measure it out.
  4. Once you've got pegs holding your design down start cutting small pieces of fishing line and tie them all the way around your frame to keep the EL wire secure.
  5.  Now all you need to do is find a fab place on your wall to hang it and you're done!

CHECK PLEASE

I'm Wearing: ASOS tee, Lee denim skirt and DIY fur bag

For a long time now I have hated unnecessary font particularly around the home and on apparel. So it really is weird for me to being wearing this shirt. But whilst I was shopping on ASOS a few months back I bought it instead of paying for postage and I actually love it! I paired it with this denim skirt thats relatively new to my wardrobe and it is honestly one of my new favourite pieces don’t know how I lived without it!

See ya next week for a sweet DIY!
